Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces Assisted Secure Transmission Without Eavesdropper's CSI

In this letter, improving the security of an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) assisted multiple-input single-output (MISO) communication system is studied. Different from the ideal assumption in existing literatures that full eavesdropper's (Eve's) channel state information (CSI) is available, we consider a more practical scenario without Eve's CSI. To enhance the security of this system given a total transmit power at transmitter (Alice), we propose a joint beamforming and jamming approach, in which a minimum transmit power is firstly optimized at Alice so as to meet the quality of service (QoS) at legitimate user (Bob), and then artificial noise (AN) is emitted to jam the eavesdropper by using the residual power at Alice. Two efficient algorithms exploiting oblique manifold (OM) and minorizationmaximization (MM) algorithms, respectively, are developed for solving the resulting non-convex optimization problem. Simulation results have been provided to validate the performance and convergence of the proposed algorithms

Functional miR-142a-3p induces apoptosis and macrophage polarization by targeting tnfaip2 and glut3 in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

In the process of microbial invasion, the inflammation reaction is induced to eliminate the pathogen. However, un-controlled or un-resolved inflammation can lead to tissue damage and death of the host. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are the signaling regulators that prevent the uncontrolled progress of an inflammatory response. Our previous work strongly indicated that miR-142a-3p is related to the immune regulation in grass carp. In the present study, we found that the expression of miR-142a-3p was down-regulated after infection by Aeromonas hydrophila. tnfaip2 and glut3 were confirmed as be the target genes of miR-142a-3p, which were confirmed by expression correlation analysis, gene overexpression, and dual luciferase reporter assay. The miR-142a-3p can reduce cell viability and stimulate cell apoptosis by targeting tnfaip2 and glut3. In addition, miR-142a-3p also regulates macrophage polarization induced by A. hydrophila. Our results suggest that miR-142a-3p has multiple functions in host antibacterial immune response. Our research provides further understanding of the molecular mechanisms between miRNAs and their target genes, and provides a new insights for the development of pro-resolution strategies for the treatment of complex inflammatory diseases in fish.31802285, CARROS-45-03info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

JCS-Net : joint classification and super-resolution network for small-scale pedestrian detection in surveillance images

While Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based pedestrian detection methods have proven to be successful in various applications, detecting small-scale pedestrian from surveillance images is still challenging. The major reason is that the small-scale pedestrians lack much detailed information compared to the large-scale pedestrians. To solve this problem, we propose to utilize the relationship between the large-scale pedestrians and the corresponding small-scale pedestrians to help recover the detailed information of the small-scale pedestrians, thus improving the performance of detecting small-scale pedestrians. Specifically, a unified network (called JCS-Net) is proposed for small-scale pedestrian detection, which integrates the classification task and the super-resolution task in a unified framework. As a result, the super-resolution and classification are fully engaged and the super-resolution sub-network can recover some useful detailed information for the subsequent classification. Based on HOG+LUV and JCS-Net, multi-layer channel features (MCF) are constructed to train the detector. Experimental results on the Caltech pedestrian dataset and the KITTI benchmark demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. To further enhance the detection, multi-scale MCF based on JCS-Net for pedestrian detection is also proposed, which achieves the state-of-the-art performance

Co-mining: Self-Supervised Learning for Sparsely Annotated Object Detection

Object detectors usually achieve promising results with the supervision of complete instance annotations. However, their performance is far from satisfactory with sparse instance annotations. Most existing methods for sparsely annotated object detection either re-weight the loss of hard negative samples or convert the unlabeled instances into ignored regions to reduce the interference of false negatives. We argue that these strategies are insufficient since they can at most alleviate the negative effect caused by missing annotations. In this paper, we propose a simple but effective mechanism, called Co-mining, for sparsely annotated object detection. In our Co-mining, two branches of a Siamese network predict the pseudo-label sets for each other. To enhance multi-view learning and better mine unlabeled instances, the original image and corresponding augmented image are used as the inputs of two branches of the Siamese network, respectively. Co-mining can serve as a general training mechanism applied to most of modern object detectors. Experiments are performed on MS COCO dataset with three different sparsely annotated settings using two typical frameworks: anchor-based detector RetinaNet and anchor-free detector FCOS. Experimental results show that our Co-mining with RetinaNet achieves 1.4%~2.1% improvements compared with different baselines and surpasses existing methods under the same sparsely annotated setting. The APC Algorithm of Solving Large-Scale Linear Systems: A Generalized Analysis

A new algorithm called accelerated projection-based consensus (APC) has recently emerged as a promising approach to solve large-scale systems of linear equations in a distributed fashion. The algorithm adopts the federated architecture, and attracts increasing research interest; however, it's performance analysis is still incomplete, e.g., the error performance under noisy condition has not yet been investigated. In this paper, we focus on providing a generalized analysis by the use of the linear system theory, such that the error performance of the APC algorithm for solving linear systems in presence of additive noise can be clarified. We specifically provide a closed-form expression of the error of solution attained by the APC algorithm. Numerical results demonstrate the error performance of the APC algorithm, validating the presented analysis.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

Purpose: To systematically evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Compound Danshen injection in patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH).Methods: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Chinese biomedical literature database (CBM), VIP (xiAn), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Wan Fang databases were searched up to March 20, 2018, for all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the use of Compound Danshen injection in patients with PIH. Data were extracted from included studies after assessing the quality of literature. Revman 5.3 software was used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 18 RCTs involving 1735 patients were included. The results of meta-analysis indicated that the study group was superior to the control group in clinical effectiveness (RR = 1.15, 95 % CI: 1.02 - 1.30); intrauterine fetal distress (RR = 0.26, 95 % CI: 0.09 - 0.70); cesarean section (RR = 0.72, 95 % CI: 0.58 - 0.90), and neonatal asphyxia (RR = 0.23, 95 % CI: 0.11 - 0.48). There were no statistical differences in fetal heart rate abnormalities (RR = 0.58, 95 %, CI: 0.33 - 1.02, p > 0.05) and postpartum hemorrhage (RR = 0.86, 95 % CI: 0.53 - 1.42) between the two groups. Conclusion: Treatment of PIH with Compound Danshen injection (alone or in combination) is superior to the use of conventional western medical treatment in safety and effectiveness. However, higher quality clinical studies are needed to confirm these results because most trials included in this study were of low quality. Keywords: Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), Compound Danshen injection, Meta-analysi
